background:
I am a freelance designer and illustrator living and working in Portland, Maine. I was trained in illustration at
the Rochester Institute of Technology's College of
Imaging Arts and Sciences. Before deciding to focus exclusively on freelance work, my experience included over ten years in the design field: three years as a Design Assistant at the National Technical
Institute for the Deaf, five years as a principal in Art Barn, a small but award-winning animation and design studio, and two years as a Web Production
Specialist at LL Bean.
I provide design and illustration to clients in Portland and throughout New England, both independently and through a partnership with socially responsible marketing agency Tugboat Creative. I have recently had the opportunity to work with and for a wide variety of clients including The Freaky Bean Coffee Company, WMPG Community Radio, R.J.Grondin and Sons Construction, The Ferry Beach Ecology School, and the non-profit land trust Portland Trails. I've also served as an on- and off-site contractor for local agencies such as Lapchick Creative and Rinck Advertising.
I am interested in working with clients of all shapes and sizes, on anything from logos and identity to web design, to posters, advertising and book covers, to photo retouching or hand-drawn illustrations. My goal is always to find an unexpected way to execute the familiar, to develop a unique and consistent personality for each project or company, and to do this in a thorough and professional manner at prices that are affordable to small businesses.
A few minutes viewing my portfolio will tell you more about my work than any number of words possibly can. If you are thinking of hiring a professional designer or illustrator, I would invite you to please view my portfolio.
